Hello, this is Munou.

Yesterday, I went to LIVE AZUMA 2023 in Fukushima.

To summarize first:

  • STUTS's impulsive and full-throttle beat-making, and his surprising humility

  • Queen Bee's Avu-chan's performance and overwhelming vocal range

  • Generative AI used in Denki Groove's monitor visuals

Now, first, food...

I love beer, and I started with an IPA beer from a stall near the Park Stage, which was delicious. The set in the second image above plus one beer cost 1,300 yen. Considering the quality of food at event stalls, it was quite reasonable.

I didn't know when I ate it, but it was a monkfish burger. 900 yen.
It was incredibly delicious. Monkfish seems to be a specialty of Fukushima.

Imo-ni that I ate when the temperature dropped. It had a lot of back fat, so you could call it "Jiro-style Imo-ni".

I was surprised, thinking "Is there such a thing!?", as I ate it. 400 yen.

Memorable Live Performances

I saw many, but I'll summarize them in the list at the beginning.

STUTS's impulsive and full-throttle beat-making, and his surprising humility

His performance was so distinct that his persona when speaking during MCs and when singing and hitting the MPC felt like two completely different people.
He was always respectful and humble towards other artists who made surprise appearances, constantly mindful of his language.

In contrast, his own performance was so overwhelming it almost felt aggressive.
Including the audience, who were completely drawn into his unique world, I completely forgot about the real world where the temperature was gradually dropping.

And then, dodo, who wasn't even scheduled to appear at LIVE AZUMA the next day, came out, and I was like, "What!?!?!?!"
I was deeply moved by the sudden surprise. I started listening to him on YouTube when I was in high school, so I never thought I'd see a live performance at such a time.

Queen Bee's Avu-chan's performance and overwhelming vocal range

Despite moving around the stage quite a lot, she maintained an unwavering vocal volume, and her sharp dancing was exactly what you'd expect from Avu-chan's performance.

Her ability to switch between a cute voice that felt like a piece of music and a singing voice like a scream from the soul was absolutely chilling.
I was watching from quite far back, so if I get the chance, I'd like to go to a tour live and see her again, but I wonder if I can...

Generative AI used in Denki Groove's monitor visuals

Just as I entered, "Shangri-La" was playing, and I was instantly fired up.

Then, "N.O" from the album "VITAMIN," which I had listened to constantly when I was feeling down a few years ago, started playing, and its lyrics made me feel a little saved again.

At LIVE AZUMA, there's a monitor on the left side, and while other artists only show live footage, Denki Groove played processed visuals, almost like a "video DJ." I wonder if they have a VJ.

Generative AI, probably using Stable Diffusion, was also used for the visuals, and I recognized how Denki Groove skillfully incorporated its psychedelia and how AI is present in our daily lives.

In conclusion.

It was my first festival ever, so it became a wonderful memory.
The food was delicious, the sound system was perfect, and everything about it was a fantastic event with no complaints.

That's all for now.
