[eyes4you.org] Wikipedia Mirror Site Launched.
Hello, this is Munou.
This time, I have released a Wikipedia mirror site using Kiwix.
Currently, it's available in English and Japanese versions, but if there are requests, I will add more, so please feel free to contact me via comments here or at haturatu[@]proton.me, etc.
The reason I created it is simply because I saw that the Japanese version of Wikipedia, etc., could not be viewed from some countries in Europe, so I decided to create it.
It operates via a cache server built on a VPS from my home server, and I am not using Cloudflare.
Since I'm not using a rental server either, I am not intentionally blocking IPs or anything, so anyone can access it. (Tor is also possible)
That being said, you can view the original Wikipedia from Tor anyway.
I'd like to do something about the messy URLs, but it seems the Kiwix server is running in a different way than Apache, and after a quick search, I couldn't figure it out, so I gave up. (Sorry)
If anyone knows how, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me.
Random Insignificant Remark
One of the reasons for creating it is that the Japanese version of Wikipedia cannot be viewed in some countries, but I also had the feeling that I'd rather Wikipedia remain as it is, rather than becoming an even larger source of information, so Kiwix was good in that it cannot be altered.
Also, regarding this domain eyes4you.org, those who were involved with the internet around 2000 might know it (though I wasn't born yet), but I believe it's similar to a domain of a European hosting provider, and I really like it.
It's a playful and beautiful website, and I like the URL itself...
Playfulness is good, isn't it?
