My Desktop Setup in 2024 ~ Hog Bristle Brushes are Great for Cleaning Keyboards ~
Hello, it's Munou. During my summer vacation, I mowed the grass in the countryside, then cleaned my room, and now my desk is barely presentable, so here's a desk tour that might seem a bit out of place in this day and age.
The reason I'm doing this is because I remember when I was in junior high, PC enthusiasts used to introduce their PC desk setups on Livedoor or the now-defunct Yahoo Blogs, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Overall

I don't have any particular preferences for PC monitors, and I even have one monitor left over.
Until recently, I had a full set of Mitsubishi monitors, but * they consumed too much power * the screen became dark due to age-related deterioration, making replacement and maintenance a hassle * and I started using ThinkPads all the time anyway, so I no longer have any strong feelings about monitors.
As an aside, the reason I'm using only one monitor is that I found it more comfortable to operate with a laptop (which is easy to move) and a desktop monitor, rather than adding more monitors.
Perhaps I just couldn't get used to multi-monitor setups.
I mean, even if you have many monitors, you still only have one mouse and keyboard to operate them... The item in the foreground is an incense holder, which I managed to create using a plate and clips.
On the Desk

This is a 1960s FireKing in Avocado Green.
I bought about a dozen of them a long time ago, and after giving many away, I'm left with just one. I also have Jadeite and Kimberly, but somehow I like this one the most.

These are figures and a 1960s lamp.
There are also some remnants of 1980s badges visible. The Shisa is a souvenir from a trip to Okinawa long ago.
The lamp is an original piece from that era, which also appeared in Doc's lab in Back to the Future.
It seems they were often placed in hotels and such back then.

Here are perfumes, badges, 5el's Dancing Flower, and I've also placed a Dead Bear nearby because I feel an affinity for it.
Behind that is what looks like a Pendleton wool blanket from the 50s, or perhaps just a piece of fabric...

By the way, what's hanging on the shelf next to the first monitor
It's a Deep Purple bandana from the 1980s.
I was quite excited when I found it.
Their famous songs are from the 1960s-1970s, so it's a bit past that era, but please forgive me. And what's hidden behind that bandana is...

Figures. Azunyan peropero (^ω^) A few Planet of the Apes and Star Wars figures. They're covered in dust, though...

Keith Haring's French LEGOs, which I bought from a senior long ago!

I'm using a 1940s ashtray as a trinket tray. A 1960s Vietnam War Zippo is carelessly placed there, but its hinge is broken, and I've left it as is after trying to fix it. Next to it is a mysterious 1980s leather bangle.

I went to a tattoo artist friend's house a long time ago, and they drew this for me on the spot.

I'm using a Green Giant whose leg broke during a move, a 1970s BSA (Boy Scouts of America) aluminum cup, and a Hatsune Miku cup as containers for small items. And that's about it, I guess... [Keyboard
I forgot to take a picture of the keyboard by itself, but it's a Cherry MX Brown switch keyboard that I bought as a junk item for about 2000 yen when I was in high school, fixed, and have been using ever since.
I don't have strong preferences for desktop keyboards; I only use ones manufactured by Mitsumi Minebea specifically for servers. By the way, the reason for this blog title is that when cleaning a keyboard, the dust inside the keyboard casing after removing the keycaps is incredibly difficult to remove.
So, I had about three extra hog bristle brushes for shoe polishing, and I tried vigorously scrubbing with one of them, and it removed the dust incredibly well.
It's best not to casually clean around the keyboard switches with alcohol or ethanol.
This is because there's grease applied around the switches, and if it comes off, you'll have to reapply grease to the key switches themselves.
Conclusion
What do you think? I used to get excited just by looking at other people's desktop environments, but I don't see such posts on personal blogs much anymore, so I decided to do one.
I hope it brings enjoyment to someone out there. See you next time.
Thank you.
